As the Finance Manager of Arcola Theatre I started to move to paperless invoicing and payments about a year ago. The only thing that has surprised me during this process is how many suppliers and customers are so receptive to this new system. Most companies have taken on the same task and are more than happy to except emails instead of receipts/invoices and bank transfers instead of posted cheques. It is much easier to print out a batch of cheques than to pay each supplier individually using online banking as it is much easier to document a physical cheque rather than tracking a bank transfer on a statement. However, technology and societal attitudes have made this endeavour easier and easier to accomplish. Arcola is constantly thinking of new and exciting ways to pass on and archive data in the most ecologically sound way as possible.
